YouTube Video Leads To Arrest Of Suspected BV Gang Members
BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Buena Vista police said they arrested a 19-year-old man late Tuesday after a weeklong investigation into a recent YouTube video posting showed several Buena Vista gang members using gang signs and revealing concealed weapons on their persons.
The homemade videos were posted in mid-November and show several members of a gang called the BV Boyz.
The people in the video claimed their ‘turf’ began at 23rd Street and ended at a convenience store.
Buena Vista police organized a task force after viewing the videos.
Three search warrants were executed by Saginaw County sheriff’s deputies and Saginaw police officers.
Detectives also made use of Saginaw’s EST entry teams to gain access to the homes.
Authorities said the EST teams were used due to the element of danger that exists when dealing with violent gang members.
One man was arrested at a Buena Vista address after police found a ‘Mac 10’ semi-automatic pistol – the same weapon seen in the video.
Police said two other weapons were also seized.
A third search warrant was executed at another location after detectives learned of the person believed to have uploaded the videos onto the YouTube Web site.
Evidence was taken from that home and added to the case.
Investigators said more arrests could be pending.
The 19-year-old has been lodged in the Saginaw County Jail and is awaiting formal felony weapons charges.
